last clue

Okay, last clue is up. Is it just me or does anyone else not get it? I'm totally hopeless at these things. I can't even begin to figure out what it is.

Sometimes I think outside the box because it is obvious. Most time I like thinking in the box because that makes the most sense. So games like this are beyond me.

Good luck to those that can figure these things out. This is why I don't do the cross word puzzles!

Karma and then some

Okay so exams are over (yipeeeeeeeee!), and my brain is still somewhat intact. Well that is a matter of debate for another time.

So finally I can send out my parcel. But of course there is always an issue with me, usually it is can't find the address. Now I'm waiting on the last bit of the kit to arrive cause well it's that time of year and well the owls are really busy. So I'm hoping it arrives tomorrow so I can send this baby off on Monday.

I feel so slow, but hopefully I can fix it by shoving in extra things to make up for the fact I've been really busy this time around. I feel awful you know! And to make matters worse what was supposed to be the item, had to be put aside cause I mistake and I didn't have enough time to fix it, so made something else instead. How is that for karma??

Anyways, fingers crossed for the last bit of stuff to arrive tomorrow!

Friday, 11 December 2009

Ahhhhhh! Exams, exams are going to make my brain explode.

Cry with me people, it hurts, but I can't wait for it to be over!!!!

I wishing all my Hogwarts friends a nice week without headaches and sore hand from writing cramps!

This week in crazy land

yup, one week left of uni to go folks! And of course everything is due at the end of it all. Then the following week we have exams. Hello, has anyone heard of a week off before starting exams???? I guess I will let them go as this is the first time they are doing semesters, and they waste a week at the beginning of it spoutting on about stuff that isn't really necessary to take a week doing.

So yes it is all crazy in my life at the moment, and hardly any time to do anything other than uni work, work and possibly some sleep in there as well.

So I have decided with my partner package to do things a little different as there is no point in doing something that there is no point in doing! So off I go to do some more thinking!

Saturday, 21 November 2009

What am I thankful for?

Good question, I'm going to go for simple!

I'm thankful for the fact that the Uni week is over, that today at work is over, and that I'm sitting here with a tin of Irn Bru and going to watch some mindless tv for once.

So yeah, simple it is people!

Friday, 13 November 2009

Can we start again?

I've been having a really really really horrible week! Things with uni are going okay, things in the other parts of my life, not so much.

Do you ever get to the point where you've had enough crap that it seriously is making you tired just thinking about stuff?? I'm at that point, I can't be bothered with what is going on at the moment, so I've decided to do the smart thing and step away from the burning flames.

So while I have put what is going on on the side burner for someone else to deal with (I'm lucky, as in this position I can give it to someone else to look after for a while)I get to concentrate on uni! How exciting!

I received my thesis topic today and I was given what I had asked for, so that is super good! I'm well chuffed and if I wasn't having issues, I'd be ecstatic, but at this moment I'm just doing a little dance in my head because even with the good news my mood still hasn't shifted.

So I have been doing some research into what I want to put in my parcel, and that is all worked out. I'm still debating on what to actually make though. I'll come up with something!

And where is winnie this week? somewhere in a time zone that probably isn't mine!

Friday, 6 November 2009

Brain of the dead

I have come to the conclusion I have no brains whatsoever for the where abouts of winnie. I'm hopeless! So yeah, mmmmm where is she this week? No idea! Thinking outside the box I don't do well. Sometimes I barely can figure out what is inside the box!

But on a slightly better note, things should start settling down in my life now that I have things sorted on the extra curricular activities front. So hopefully I can now just sit back and do uni work and knit. I haven't started anything, and I can't think of anything decent to make my swapner. How ridiculous!

Must start thinking about this stuff!

Stupid muggle internet

My muggle internet was down yesterday night so this is going to be late! Stupid muggle internet!

I believe Winnie is where she is supposed to be. Now she is somewhere that requires her to do lots of work, so that is either home with her family, or with work work! But that doesn't necessarily mean that even if she is at home or at work, she is completely there. Her mind might be somewhere else which is always a problem when you're thinking of what needs to be done for something.

So where is Winnie? I'm not sure, it depends on if you mean where her body is, or where her mind is, or where the two of them together are.

All I can say is, she is somewhere!

Sunday, 25 October 2009

Where in the world is Winnie?

Hmmm......exactly where she should be at this precise moment in time!

I'll tell you the rest of what I think when I get back from doing homework!

Quidditch task one

1. Someone with the same craft as you Miss Lucy does knitting and bead work just like myself
2. Someone who was born in the same month. Girlywithatwist is born in March, that is the closest I can find to February. I am the only one???
3. Someone from a different country. Ronnica
4. A new HSKS Quidditch player. switchcleo
5. A player who has been in 3 or more HSKS swaps. Wychwoodlady!
6. A player who has a bigger stash than you! (And if your stash is the biggest, proudly say so!) Yarnguy
7. A player who both knits and crochets. SparkelsandDazzles
8. Someone who has the same favorite color as you. kauraqt loves purple too!

QUidditch is certainly full of people! I went to find someone that has the same birth month as me, didn't happen! I think I am the only one. I found that Pandora has Cornish Pixies, which are totally cute! I want to take it out to play with, but Ollie wouldn't let me!

I have learned a lot about a lot of people, so much so I can't remember a thing! I'm sure it will come back to me when I get a rest from Ollie asking where the snakes are. So I did have fun which is the main thing!

It's here!!

My parcel that is. It arrived last week, but I thought it was something else so I was in no real hurry to the collection office. Then I had to cart it all around uni till I got home 6 hrs later. Then I opened it, fell over, camera died, and computer had no memory etc so we're finally in business!!

I have such a lovely parcel!!!! I'm very stoked as I have some really really lovely yarn in deep forest to go with the devil's snake sock pattern, I also received The best of interweave knits (yipee!!!), I have some lovely knitting needles for socks that I really don't want to use cause they are so nice, lovely chocolates and sweets (mind I'm scared of the jelly beans!), a lovely bag, some harry potter themed things (note pad, bookmark, key ring), stitch markers, dpn toppers, pens!! Did I mention pens! Now when you see the pic you'll wonder why on earth I have las vegas tat! I have pens from casinos/hotels for sure, some could be restaurants though! I love my vegas tat cause that is what I really wanted! So loves me my pens! Oh and I have a lovely bag to put it all in. Oh totally forgot about my little sock change purse which I love to pieces!

So I want to thank my lovely swapner Ophelia for such a lovely parcel, I just don't know where to begin with it all!

Saturday, 29 August 2009

what a night

I was invited to a party and while I'm not really one for parties( I'm shy, don't like hanging out with strangers, don't like noise etc ) I had a super good time. The only down side was I only had 4 hrs of sleep so now I'm tired beyond belief and I have to pack my bags!

I can't believe summer camp is almost done! I can't believe I didn't really want to come in the first place, what was I thinking?

So I had a wonderful time and I can't wait to get home to tell my parents all about it. I feel sorry for Ollie as he's really going to miss the snakes!

Sunday, 23 August 2009

Yikes!

This week has been really crazy! I was fast forwarded at the beginning of the week, and now I'm fast rewound! I seriously don't have any idea what day it is, I thought today was Saturday.

Yikes, this is late!

On a good note the owl arrived with Clara's gift, safe and sound. Wheeew!!

Now I have to dash to work before I forget to do that!

Saturday, 15 August 2009

bye bye.....

yes the parcel went out yesterday with an international owl. I hope it gets there safely and in one piece.

You know when you send things to someone else and you worry that it is enough. I'm having this moment now, which is way too late to do anything about. And as usual I forgot to include a note, good predictable me!

Oh well, it's not as if Clara won't know it's from me anyways, but still!

Right now I have to go see what Ollie is up to with the snakes cause they are just being wayyyy to quiet not to be up to something!

Saturday, 8 August 2009

Guess what people!!!! I finally for the life of me finished Clara's present. Finally after how long? Mind I have to say that I am sort of missing getting frustrated at the stupid thing. I might have to cast on at sme point for myself now that I have it figured out and that I will stop being trired when I am knitting it.

So things on my parcel are coming along nicely. I'm thinking I might be able to get this out on MOnday or Tuesday dependig.

Other than that I cut my finger while thinking about a boy. How stupid was that? Someday I might have to do something about this! I wonder if Madame Pomfrey as anything for it? Maybe I can be like a muggle and put on a plaster. How cool would I be if I put one on?! That right peeps super cool to all the wizards and witches, mind the muggles wouldn't think anything about it cause I'm sure they have had a plaster before as well.

So lesson today is don't think about boys you like while cutting an avocado. Not sure what happens if you were cutting an apple or something, but definitely no avocados!

Summer camp game 6

So we have to figure out what is carried around in the headmistress' bag potion wise.

So potion one is: draught of peace

potion two is: mandrake draught

potion three: babbling beverage

Potion four: Murtlap Essenence

What a random assortment the headmistress carries around!
I have spent the week learning about something that is called first aid and CPR in the muggle world. It was very fascinating as they don't use magic to fix broken arms or illness.

Muggles spend time pretending to be ill or something is broken and another muggle comes along and helps them out by putting a bandage or a sling, or do other things to them. If the muggle isn't breathing then CPR, if the muggle is breating but not conscious then recovery positing.

I tell you, muggles are very strange and sometimes primitive!

Saturday, 25 July 2009

I've been really busy with my friends birthday party. I haven't even had time to write or take some pics for the summer camp game.

I'll have to get onto these things right away! I must say though I have been working on Clara's gift and it is almost finished. Just the last push and off everything can go!

Tink, tink, tink

is actually the sound of rain this time, not me tinking my project for Clara.

It's been really nice to be able to sit here and listen to the rain against the cabin windows. Ollie and the snakes are hanging out outside in the puddles. Ollie has managed to convince them to act like a jet ski while he rides on their back. How does he get away with these things?

I'm working on Clara's gift, and I have about 20 rows left. Which doesn't seem like a lot and it isn't considering I had to tink and frog it a few times. So I have learned not to work on it while I am tired (should have known better in the first place anyways!)

So since most of the item is finished I've been looking at the rest of the parcel. I have the pattern chosen, the yarn, and a few other bits and bobs. I'll have to do some more thinking for the rest of the things.

Poor Clara must think I'm a right random wizette for asking about 20 questions that were relatively random. But she did answer them in good form and humour so something nice might come of them!

Right off I go to tell the snakes and Ollie to come in for some hot treats!

Summer camp game 3

I think there was a boggart about today in the woods. All of a sudden I was up really really high for no real reason. I hate heights, I'm really really scared of them, and I was about to freak out, but managed to keep my cool.

So a good spell for a height boggart is this

and you can then turn it into this:

which always makes me laugh really hard, as you're then closer to the ground, and you have a totally different perspective on the whole entire situation. You can see some amazing things when upside down, Try it!

Summer camp game 2.2

Part Two:
17-4, 14-1, 9-6, 3-3
18-2, 3-3
19-4, 11-2, 9-3, 8-5, 15-9
7-1, 11-2
15-9, 11-2
15-9, 14-1, 9-6
13-8, 18-2, 8-5, 16-3, 6-5, 16-3, 5-3!

"When in doubt, go to the library:" Ron Weasley

Tink tink tink is not the sound of rain hitting the cabin windows

So I have Clara's present pretty much figured out. I have quite a few items here already for the final parcel.

I've been working on her handmade item today and I'm having one of those days. Nothing seems to be going right for me, so I had to tink tink tink a few times. I've come to the point where I'm pretty much back where I started in the first place.

So I'm going to be smart about this, and put it aside while I wrap my brain back into my head.

Apart from that, it is looking good so far. I just need to be able to keep going with this baby!

Summer camp game two

Okay so we have to solve the mixed up words and put them into what they actually are. Here is the original text, and my answers are at the bottom:

In the second volume of the HP books by JK Rowling, The (#1)Chrome Cab Festers, we continue to learn the incredible adventures of Hogwarts student (#2) Parry He Trot and his friends (#3) Oral Weensy and (#4) Angering Her More. Belonging to the house of (#5) Dry Off Grin, they attend Defense Against the (#6) Ark Darts taught by Wizarding celebrity (#7) Oracle Dorky Light, a none-too-bright fellow who cannot even handle pixies!

In The (#8) Chrome Cab Festers, we also meet Dobby a (#9)See Flu Oh for the first time. Determined Dobby seeks to sabotage the return of (#10) Parry He Trot to Hogwarts and is pretty persistent but is unsuccessful. After a few weeks at school, the deceased Ravenclaw student who haunts the girls lavatory, also known as (#11) My Molten Grain, shows (#12) Parry He Trot and (#13) Oral Weensy an old empty diary that dropped through her ghostly form out of thin air!

Many nifty things continue to happen for the next several months… we won’t go into all the juicy details right now… however, the ending is prime reading indeed!! (#14) Parry He Trot finally kills Tom Riddle’s (a.k.a #15 Mold Voter) sneaky diary (which we now know is a #16 Crux Rho) and saves the sister of (#17) Oral Weensy, (#18) Gayly Nine Sew!!!

Oh! Of course, we must mention that the thickheaded (#19) Oracle Dorky Light unintentionally erased his own memory, so he won’t be back for book three, The (#20) Snob In A Froze Parka

What a start to camp!

First I get into a huge argument with my dad about his work, name etc etc. He was so mad he blew up the kitchen. Since no one knows my dad, he's what my step mom calls 'horizontal' as in he's that laid back. So you can tell he was furious to blow up the kitchen, I'm surprised I made it out alive. I was almost not allowed to go to camp because I put his name down in an assignment.

Then I learned that snakes will be in the cabin and Ollie (my jumping spider) decided he wasn't going to come with me cause you never know if snakes will eat you. Fair enough, but I did check with the people that had snakes and none of their snakes eat spiders.

So all is okay somewhat as Ollie had decided to lay low to get a sense of how the snakes react and what they do, basically he was doing some 'stake out' (that's a muggle term according to Ollie, need to look it up). Then Thistle Lovegood (who is a first year by the way and doesn't know the ropes, another muggle term that means "she doesn't know the way or manner" or something along those lines) let loose a bunch of frogs!!!!

Okay bad enough for snakes, but frogs the mortal enemy of spiders! Especially when Ollie was about to come out of the hole in the wall. Well consider that plan canceled. So I spent ages trying to find a hole that lead to the outside of the cabin and not to the inside. So I missed the campfire with roasting pondpines! I can't believe it, as I love roasted pondpines! I still never found a hole by the way.

So I sort of gave up for the moment as what can I do other than drill a hole in the cabin wall? So I decided to leave Ollie in the wall, and let him come up with a plan on his own possibly since I know he is terribly smart. So me and my Lorimer's books go out for a walk.

I spend all afternoon worrying that Ollie has gotten eaten by the hoard of frogs that are probably encamped by the hole in the wall that I don't remember anything I did or saw in the woods. So I rush back cause I know something bad had to have happened.

I burst into the cabin to find.....................................................

Wizard War MMIV going on! Ollie somehow has managed to get the snakes on his side which is very difficult since Ollie doesn't speak Parceltongue! So there is Ollie on a snakes head giving orders to the other ones. Some snakes had frogs obviously in their throat (do snakes have throats???) anyways you can tell it was eating a frog. And some snakes had legs sticking out, and some where about to strike the frogs. Oh talk about mayhem!

I'm just hoping that the frogs that were eaten weren't pets, and they simply came into the cabin from outside. Anyways I managed to get the rest of the frogs out of the cabin using a "grenouille a demain" spell so the cabin is frog free, snakes are full for however long snakes stay full for, and Ollie is as snug as that damn bug in Clara's bed (which by the way I should be able to get rid of since in Lorimer's book of botany it has a plant that takes care of that).

So I think Ollie has made some friends with the serpants, but dare I say I am worried that the snakes are quite happy to take part in Ollie's devious plans? He's full of mischief and the snakes are going to get into trouble if they don't watch it.

I guess I really didn't need to worry about Ollie at all, I'm now more worried about the rest of us!

Summer camp game

Well luckily I looked at the welcome letter to see what was needed for camp.

In my trunk I'll be bringing:

-lily's homemade snafferjazz jam (just in case I don't like what food there is!)
-lilahs handmade quilt that has a built in season change temperature gauge that makes the quilt warmer if it is cold out, or cooler if it is roasting out. (Lilah's my mom)
-lemon pastilles
-limewart bug repellant
-loose tibwits for the snakes that might be in the cabin
-lorimer's wild invisible animals of the forest book
-lorimer's botany for the deep deep woods book
-l----- magic flint (I can't say what my dad's name is due to his job, but it does start with an L)
-long trousers to keep the bugs and other unwanteds off my legs!

Hmm no one has a queue bigger than mine (how is that possible??) and no one has the same birth month, again how is that possible?? Have I missed someone?

Spoilee: Well I have the hard time of spoiling our camp counselor how crazy is that?? I'm going to be extra sneaky if I'm going to keep things underwraps. Clara's projects are quite short, only 3 items listed. I wonder if she is really really busy with other things to not have time to update her projects. But I have to say that I love the fact she crochets. I really want to learn, so I am quite envious! I have to say I do the like bride the best!

Spoiler: My spoiler is Ophelia Ballycastle and she also crochets, I need to learn seriously! She has lots and lots of socks in the projects which I think is great. I'm just about to turn the heel of my 4th sock (2nd of my 2nd pair). I have lots of socks in my queue, but nothing like Ophelia's sock habit! Plus she also seems to like fingerless gloves which I also have an issue with.

Summer Camp

My step mom signed me up for summer camp. Now to be honest I wasn't that pleased with the idea of spending summer with a bunch of people I might not know. Who wants to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with strangers?? I wasn't happy and spent a week in my room not talking to anyone trying to see what it would be like this coming summer.

My step mom left the brochures about the camp lying on the table for me to find I'm sure. So I couldn't help but read them to see what boring time I was in for. Well after reading the brochures I went looking for more information about camp because it actually sounded quite fun. Then of course an owl came by with my welcome letter that contained details of which cabin I'd be in. I was actually getting excited about leaving for the summer.

Funny I was surprised to find out that it was my dad that thought I should go, I wonder if he found out about it at work. See my dad works in a top secret section of the Ministry of Magic, to the point where I don't know what he actually does and I'm not allowed to find out until I graduate. Must be something pretty important, and scary if they are keeping me safe like this. I know he has an important job within his office so he might have come across the camp because of that. Anyways I'm quite happy that I'm going to camp now! Sometimes dads do know best.

The only problem is I'm in Ashwinder cabin, and I don't think Ollie will be happy about that. So he might decide to stay home or go traveling without me. That would be a total bummer cause Ollie is such a great spider, but some of the people in the cabin might be bringing their pet snakes. I'm not sure if Ollie and the Snakes would get along. Anyways I have to find out about that when I go, and maybe if it is alright he might come along later.

I think Dad is sending me to camp as it is 10 yrs since my mom died in a freak accident due to her somewhat silly twin sister who blew herself up while concocting something. I'll tell you all more about that when I get a chance, but I was really lucky to get such a great step mom and not a stepmonster. I hear stepmonsters can be really horrible.

Right I've packed my trunk about 15 times in the last 2 days. I really need to see what I have forgotten!

What a week

that was for last week! I still don't know what day it is, but there you go.

Really really busy. Who knew it was such hard work putting together a magical archery championship??? So things of course were not here, so on tuesday had to ring up the wizard shop for some target faces etc, luckily they arrived on Thursday. Had to get some potion things for the judges as little presents. Had to pain the field! Okay you would think that you could have a spell for this, no such luck get out your tins of spray. The day itself was long, but well worth the effort.

The senior team came third, the novice team came third (I was on this), and I came second in my division. How amazing is that??? So I will be getting two medals when they are printed.

Now I just have to catch up with tons of homework that I missed last week due to all this faffing about. And of course I am the one that has to sort it cause I am the new team president/captain. I always get the good jobs!

it arrived

yes the parcel that I sent to Emma Wigworthy arrived safe and sound. It arrived super quick too which is really impressive! The owl must have flown super fast to get there as it only took 24hrs.

I'm still waiting on one item for Emma's kit. Totally annoying as everything I ordered via the wizard catalog has been going missing. I ordered a book and it never arrived so I had to order another one. Now the other thing I ordered in plenty of time has yet to arrive. If it doesn't turn up in my post today I'll be sending a howler to them!

Tis very annoying, but I'm wondering if someone put a curse on me?

It's been super long!

That is to say my week has been. Both really really good and quite crappy as well, I can say it pretty much ends on the good side in the end.

I had a lovely lovely weekend last week as I had a bunch of Hogwart students to my house. Pretty lame thing was that I had to go to the national magical archery competition that just happened to be on the same day as everyone going into town. So I had to travel while everyone had a nice day in town. Competition wasn't all that bad as I bet my own personal best, so not too shabby.

I still feel bad as I so wanted to show everyone around, but had to bail in the end. I'm a lousy tour guide! I do hope that everyone had a lovely time though, and I hope that they come back again. I will totally get the time off if that happens.

I was also asked if I wanted to be the president of our team next year. How weird is that?? I still can't get over it, but I might have some competition which would mean I would have to give a speech. I'll have to think of something good if that comes down to it.

Let's see what else?? I put my back out, as well. Totally going around peg legged. I wish I could put a spell or something on it, but I think I must have been cursed for some reason. I totally have to figure that out!

Ollie has disappeared and I haven't seen him in days. I wonder what is going on with that. Totally will have to keep my ears to the ground cause I'm sure he is up to something. Either that or he has a girlfriend!

I have been working on Emma's project and have it pretty much completed. I have also ordered a bunch of things for her, so now I just have to sit back and wait for all the kit to arrive. Then I have to put it all in nice wrapping etc to make it look presentable. Something should have arrived last week, but it hasn't. I'll have to keep an eye on the post as if it doesn't show up soon, I will have to send them a message telling them that it hasn't! I'm so hoping it turns up cause I really want to see it myself.

Right so all my kit preparations are well underway, and I'm well chuffed so far with my progress!

An exciting weekend

phew! What a weekend that was! I missed the quidditch for the fact I was working on a presentation in one of today's classes (another story!). I can't believe that some of the information in quidditch was pertaining to me. Of course I'd miss it when it was something to do with me, typical!

Even though I missed quidditch, I did manage to get to Hogsmead for the fact that I had to write up a presentation about a government body. I would love to write about my father, but his job is so top secret I don't even think he knows what he does! So I settled for the post office.

Now the post office in Hogsmead is one of the biggest around for miles because it serves Hogswarts when the students owls would be overwhelmed at peak times such as Halloween or when owls take a rest (they too get holidays!), and the surrounding districts.

So Hogsmead PO has 438 owls ranging from your typical barn owl to the small elf owl. Each owl is placed in specific categories, not according to bird, but according to the parcel, the delivery method, and the weight. Now some parcels are really heavy which is where the PO staff come in by putting a charm on the parcel to make it smaller or lighter depending on the original parcel.

The owls are trained because you have to have stamps proving that the owl is government approved agent and the specifications that the bird can handle. Each bird is given courses in the best way to handle the parcel, best times for flying, best ways to deal with certain adverse weather and the like. Once the owl has taken all the required courses, the owl has to take a test both written (well use of pecking for the correct answer) and a trial flight with different parcels, situations, and customers.

Each category has a lead bird and he/she is in charge of making sure his/her group meets the targets set for the day, week, or month depending. When targets are met, each bird has the opportunity to move onto a better route within the PO district. Most birds develop a lovely relationship with the customers' on its route that most birds stick with the same route for their life within the PO. Each bird is only allowed to be employed for 5 yrs and enjoys a retirement courtesy of the government.

The birds are given strict diets in which to obtain the best flight and speed for each bird. These are athletes to the fullest and take their job seriously! As I said, each bird receives a holiday each year in which to relax and visit friends/family.

I was very fortunate to sit in on a training class, and a test flight. I also witnessed that size doesn't matter. Some of the smallest birds carried larger parcels than their larger co-workers, I was surprised at that.

So I had such a lovely time at Hogsmead PO that I decided to adopt a bird. With an adoption you help the bird by taking it for its holiday time if the bird doesn't have any family, friends close by, you can also donate food, and you can visit your owl on its day off. As well, you can help provide comfort when it becomes ill (which usually doesn't happen since it is on a great diet!).

So I adopted an elf owl because Ollie said that they usually eat moths, beetles, and crickets so he figured he would be pretty safe for being a spider if he came along. Ollie and Rollie (the owl) seemed to get along quite well in fact that Ollie convinced Rollie to get him some fruit.

Rollie soon figured out that giving Ollie fruit was the worse possible idea he had in a long time. Ollie was so out to lunch because of the fruit that he ended up spinning poor Rollie into a big mess. It took me ages to untangle the poor thing. Lesson learned by Rollie about Ollie's fruit habit.

So after saying good bye to Rollie with a promise to come back on our next Hogsmead trip, and an open invitation to visit Hogwarts at any time Ollie and I made our way to The three brooms so that I could have a butter beer after the unwrapping incident. By this time it was time to go back to Hogwarts, and do up my presentation using Magic point (which I'm horrible at!) all the while dealing with a severly annoying spider coming off fruit!

Yikes!

My homework for the trip is sooo late! But then again I wasn't able to go to Hogsmead for the fact I was at two archery competitions and just got back from school after a hard days work! I'm so not going to get any marks for this but I'll tell you my weekend anyways...........

So I found out that muggle archery isn't the same as Magic archery. Basically Muggle archery you have two types either: killing prey such as a deer or for sport by simply shooting at a target. Much more simple than Magic archery I must say. The only reason why I found out about this as one of the competitors is a Muggle and she explained it to me. I think I want to try this someday, not the killing part, but the target part.

Now magical archery is way more difficult and I was impressed that the Muggle did so well. Now the rules of magical archery are pretty much the same as Muggle archery, but it's like a horse jumping competition. You have to get your arrow around a course by shooting it like a normal arrow. Like I said much more difficult than normal archery.

So I came in third in my category at Sunday's competition, our team in my category came in third, and our seniors came in first! So it was a decent weekend I must say.

I also was able to charm a parking attendant into not giving us a parking ticket as our ride was parked in a non magic vehicle parking spot. So I saved us a heafty fine!

So that was what I was up to this weekend, sorry I missed Hogsmead that is always fun. I wonder if those guys I met the first time were there?

ETA: Hogsmead isn't until next week, how lucky! I can go! Totally need to get Ollie to start taking notes as I need someone to be my brain!

First homework!

Goodness, I've barely had time to unpack my suitcase and we have homework!

I'm choosing to write about who taught me to knit!

I was about 5 yrs old and it was the summer. I spent my early years with my grandparents before I went to school. We were at the cottage and my grandmother was a fantastic knitter. I can't remember if I wanted to learn, or if she taught me. Something tells me it was me that wanted to learn as I like to try things out, and once I know I can do it, I give it up as what's the point if I can do it?

I remember having bright orange needles, and red yarn. I was taught how to simply knit and purl, and my grandmother used the most complicated, but fascinating way of casting on. It looked like she was using her finger as a knitting needle. I made a Barbie blanket and my grandmother casted it off for me. I made a few more of these squares for various small toys. Being 5 yrs old, and knowing I could knit sort of led me to put my knitting aside for years.

Every year for Christmas my father would say he wanted me to make him a scarf, and well I didn't until 10 yrs later when my grandmother thought it was high time to put my father out of his misery. So out again came the needles, and yarn. We choose a simple basket weave pattern, and off I went.

The amount of tears, frustration, and anger at the stupid scarf made me totally not enjoy working that project. I'd make a mistake and get upset, my grandmother would rip it out, and get me back to where I was, and she would add a bit more to make up for lost time! Finally the torturous thing was finished and my father still has it to this day (now 17 yrs later, and even after the incident of the drycleaners!). I told my grandmother that there was no way I was ever knitting again. She told me that when I got older I would want to learn. Suffice to say she was right, but she had passed away 3 yrs previously to me learning to knit.

I retaught myself to knit about 3 yrs ago, and I have cranked out tons of stuff. I wish my grandmother could see that yes I could knit and that I'm fairly decent at it. I even managed to teach myself that magic cast on method where your finger is the other needle. My mother tried numerous times to show me to no avail, but I managed it myself!

I even managed socks for the first time with a book from Emma Wigworthy who was my spoiler three terms ago, funny to say I now have her as my spoilee, and I have a lot to live up to! I also have found a passion for fingerless gloves, and the ever more complicated/fun----lace!

I hope somewhere that my grandmother can see that she started me off on something that is fun, and that I can do as I'm not the most crafty of people (unlike my mother who can do anything). So I owe my knitting to my grandmother, the fluorescent orange needles, and red yarn

Off to a great start and my wants ramblings

That is to say I'm in Hufflepuff again this semester. I'm loving being in this house as everyone is wonderful!

We've been told to put up a wish list which I think is great to help along our spoiler. I hope my spoilee puts one up, makes it easier in one way to get some other info.

For my wish list I've put up the things I would really like in the order of how much I want them! Makes it easier for someone to decide just what they want to spend on me.

As you can see my wish list compiles three things, I'm not greedy! For yarn and needles, I'm not really bothered with brand names or a certain sort. I'm quite happy with normal wool rather than say alpaca! I do prefer to have smaller needle sizes as I like when my knitting looks "tight." Circular or DPNs doesn't matter either, but I'm more prone to use DPNs than circulars as I go faster on them for some reason. I would like to have some pins, i think as I do lots of blocking and have none of my own. I keep borrowing my flatmates, she doesn't mind, but I do!

Random things that I love/like lots: chocolate, hot chocolate, tea, hard sweets, candles, oils for burning, oil burners, blue, purple, green colours, I'm a photographer, as well as an archer (I just bought a new bow! totally psyched!), I like biscuits, and homemade foodie items. I love recipe books, or simply some recipe cards with your favourite recipes printed on them. Scents I love lemons, anything sweet, vanilla. I love brazil nuts, pistachios, hazelnuts! I have an obsession with pens, if you're pen has gone missing I probably lifted it. I like silver, and have a huge thing for semi precious stones (I have a collection)particularly amethyst. I like runes and tarot. I have a tendency that if something I receive is super nice, I don't want to use it. I must get over this! I love my handmade cotton dishcloths I received last swap! Which reminds me I have a thing for elephants and cows. I'm naturally light blonde (but I'm not usually that dumb!) so colours that go with that suit me best. I can go either light shades or dark shades both look decent on me.

Things I don't like: white chocolate, oranges (colour, fruit, smell), walnuts, floral or patchouli smells. I don't like brown, orange, yellow colours (if you think autumn, I don't like it). Don't like yellow gold, and I don't like spicy things. I don't like cats or guinea pigs or hamsters.

I'll add to this if I think of more things about me, I'm pretty easy to shop for I think as I appreciate everything! I hope you have a fun time shopping for me, and don't wrack your brain too much!
